Caring for Resin & Wood
Many of my works use clear resin. Although this has the appearance of glass, it is not glass, and should not be treated as such.
Keep pieces out of prolonged direct sunlight, as UV rays can cause yellowing and dullness over time.
For handling and cleaning, please care for your artwork as follows:
Note: A yellow cloth is provided with your resin artwork.
- To avoid greasy fingerprints, only handle the artwork using the yellow cloth provided or handle it only by the coloured background area.
- For cleaning dust from the resin, gently wipe using the soft cloth or a microfibre cloth. Be sure to shake the cloth out first to release any particles of dirt that might scratch the resin.
- To remove greasy fingerprints use some mild glass cleaner and the yellow cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and never use alcohol-based cleaners, as they can cause the resin to become dull.
- If the resin ever requires re-polishing, only use the recommended polish 'Topfinish2: Nano Refinishing Polish by PAIBOAT Composites'. Gently apply the polish with a circular motion using the yellow cloth. Allow to dry, then gently wipe off the dried polish using the yellow cloth.
(iv) For dusting the wooden base, again use the yellow cloth to wipe then gently buff using circular motion.
(v) If you would like to re-wax the base, only use beeswax polish. Apply a small amount using the a different cloth and gently work into the wood. Once dry (an hour plus) buff the base to a shine.
Note: A cloth used for wax should never be used to polish the resin itself. The cloth can be cleaned with warm soapy water, and should be shaken out once dry to remove anything that might scratch the resin.
